六六这位以写作讲述婆媳关系的小说《双面胶》走红的网络作家，在《蜗居》中凸现了她超强的编故事能力，小说以日常的生活场景开篇，生活气息扑面而来，整本书中，作者不断地制造出的冲突和矛盾令读者应接不暇。描写的是快节奏的生活，但用笔却是从容而老练的，对现代男女情感的通透观察，隐约能看到一些张爱玲的影子。
不同的时代造就不同的作家，六六要比张爱玲乐观、热情得多。在网络上写作的六六，尽管对生活和情感仍然有着深刻而冷静的观察，但在讲述时却完全有别于传统作家。《蜗居》讲述的是都市人重压之下的生存状态，但读来却轻松流畅没有沉重之感，令人捧腹的对话和段子比比皆是，完全符合网络时代的写作和阅读习惯。与写作《双面胶》时侧重单一的婆媳矛盾相比，《蜗居》以三对夫妻为主线展开了这个故事，人物互有交叉，情节更加丰富和立体起来，这大概和她有过一次编剧经历（担任电视剧《双面胶》的编剧）有关。这位新兴作家，没有任何老作家、老编剧的颓气，她仿佛有无数的故事要迫不及待地讲述给读者听。
书名为《蜗居》，故事背景也设置在上海房价飙升的时期，但这本书的主题却不是房子，而是人的情感，如果将两者结合在一起，就是写房子背后所隐藏的都市人的欲望。自人类建造出第一间能遮风挡雨的房子之后，房子的功能从古至今始终没有变过，那就是隔绝外界，创造一块小天地，用以亲密的人恩爱和休憩，房子的意义也从古至今没有变过，那就是提供安全感。在经济发达地区，人们对于房子的需求和渴望愈加强烈，大城市中为什么那么多年轻人拼死拼活也要供一套房子，正是因为他们缺少安全感，没有一块属于自己的私密的地方。作为和爱情婚姻同等重要的大事，用房子这个“筐”来装现代男女的恩怨情仇最合适不过……
《蜗居》中海萍和海藻的故事，一个说的是传统夫妻在物欲冲击下的坚守和放弃，一个说的是年轻男女在对待感情上的全新观念。海萍和海藻这两个人的遭遇，基本涵盖了已婚人群和恋爱人群两个群体，难怪很多读者都或多或少看到自己或者朋友的影子。在海萍和丈夫苏淳还处于两手空空阶段的时候，反倒其乐融融没有尝到“贫贱夫妻百事哀”
的味道，而从筹付房贷首期之后，却被推上了一个无法自控的轨道，海萍由淑女变成了悍妇。海藻在爱上市长秘书宋思明之后无力自拔，结束了与男友小贝的单纯恋情，最终成为“职业二奶”。海萍终于自力更生入住新房，却在去看望海藻的路上意外车祸身亡……
作者叙事的轻松和达观掩饰不住《蜗居》的沉重，《蜗居》没有给我们提供一个“有志者事竟成”的励志参考，却也因此揭示了生活的真实一面：无数人都在挣扎和奋斗，却少有人注意到自己追逐的是否是自己真正想要的。海萍得到了房子，却失去了婚姻里最美好的情感。海藻放弃了男友成为“二奶”，最终却也是一无所有。宋思明对海藻的爱是真实的，但他在官场上有更大的欲望……六六的文笔只是这个苦涩故事外表的一层糖衣，糖衣里包裹着的是现实苦涩的滋味。在为这个故事叹息的同时，别忘了审视一下自己的内心，在这个浮躁的时代，自己想要的究竟是什么。
