A Lily in the Rain
By Bing Hua
Translation By Dajian Wang
How should the lily
in her charming prime
catch your eyes
She’s set a thousandth stick of incense alight
for that and rehearsed ten thousand times
The lily stands straight
firmly holding back
her red heart in wait
The fine drizzles fall
like crystals of her pining sprays
So flimsy as paper is life
You seldom see her blooming prime
Don’t wait till your hair’s white
and then regret and sigh
Oh, in the rain stands the lily
expecting her dreamed Mr. Sweetie
