There's a Boy in the Girls' Bathroom is a fiction book from the author Louis Sachar. It was published by Yearling Books in 1987
The book is about a troubled fifth grade boy named Bradley Chalkers who has serious behaviour problems as he often lies and bullies classmates as well as perform poorly in his studies as he does not do his homework and as a result gets held back a year, making him the oldest pupil in the fifth grade. Concerned about his behaviour, a school counselor, Carla Davies, is contacted to interact with him as a way to mend Bradley's mental being.

Bradley Chalkers - Is the main antagonist in the beginning, but gradually becomes the main protagonist in the middle and end. He has "serious behavior issues," causing Ms. Ebbel (his teacher) to send him to Carla, the new school counselor. He realizes he loves Carla after an incident involving homework. Jeff is his best friend.
Jeff Fishkin - Is the main protagonist in the beginning, then switches to the main antagonist in the beginning of the middle section, but quickly transfers back to the co-protagonist. Has a crush on Colleen, who likes him back. Bradley's best friend. He starts to turn bad in the story when he has a black eye, but goes back to normal.
Colleen Verigold -She has a crush on Jeff. She has a birthday at the end of the story and invites all her friends, as well as Jeff and Bradley.
Melinda Birch - Colleen's tough best friend. Fights with Bradley and Jeff frequently and gives them both a black eye, although she likes them better by the end of the book.
Lori Westin - the biggest gossip in school. Distastefully nicknamed "Lori Loud Mouth" by Bradley Chalkers, though at Colleen's birthday party they become friends.
Carla Davis - the school counselor. Unlike the teachers at the school, she prefers to persuade students to do the right thing instead of outright telling them what to do. Although students like Jeff, Bradley, and Colleen like her, she is very unpopular among the parents, who believe that a counselor is unnecessary. She is the reason for Bradley's turnaround. She believes in him and gives him confidence. At the end of the book she becomes a kindergarten teacher at another school.
Mrs. Chalkers - Bradley's mother. She cares about him and tries to help him out.
Mr. Chalkers - Bradley's father. A former police officer who was shot by a robber and limps as a result. Although he and Bradley fight at the beginning of the book they become closer by the end. Although he originally doesn't like the school having a counselor, he changes his mind when he sees how much she helps Bradley.
Claudia Chalkers - Bradley's 14-year-old sister. Usually she is obnoxious and mean to Bradley, however, she is occasionally nice, such as when she buys him Bartholomew after she accidentally breaks Ronnie's ear by or when she helps him with his math homework.
Ronnie - Bradley's favorite toy animal, a red rabbit with blue eyes. She is very real in his imagination, as a funny, happy-go-lucky rabbit that's also in love with Bartholomew. She has a broken ear given to her by Claudia. She can be seen as a personification of the friendship Bradley wants, as he imagines her speaking to him in the same way Carla does.
Bartholomew - Bradley's ceramic bear, given to him by Claudia in apology. In Bradley's stories, he's usually the hero, and is in love with Ronnie. He can be seen as a personification of who Bradley wants to be (a hero with lots of friends and someone who loves him).
Mrs. Ebbel - Bradley's teacher. She teaches her class at Room 12. She has very little faith in Bradley to succeed and expresses her concern to Bradley's mother.She points out Bradley's bad grade right in front of the class, which is really embarrassing for Mrs.Chalkers.
