If I am the patient, I would prefer to die with dignity. Do you guys realize how it is like to live as a vegetable? on top of that, it's a huge burden for the family and loved ones. dying will give them relief both economically and emotionally, so they can move on with their life, and hopefully find new ones to enjoy the remainder of their lives. if my spouse can get some money from life insurance company, all the best. that's exactly why I bought life insurance for.
anyway, that's just my personal view. right now this case has gone beyond any reason to become the fight of party politics and even to the level of constitutional right of government to interfere with a private citizen's life. as much a republican as I am, I disagree with Bush and the congress in meddling with this case. they should have simply left it to the Florida court, and it's a "big mistake" for federal government to get involved, to quote CA senior senator Dianne Feinstein.
