sounds too good to be true. recently the study shows that in Bay area, you need about $78K a year to stay above water (not sure what that means, but in my dictionary it means barely above the poverty line, just about able to put a cover on your head). personal experience is that a family needs to at least make $200K a year to just get by. anything below that, you have to watch every nickel...
just a couple of reference points:
sending a kid to pre-school: $12,000 a year, after school program - $5,000 a year
car expenses: insurance $1000/year, gas $160/ month, maintenance $600-1000/year
single family house - price at $600,000-1000,000, property tax - $12,000-30,000/year, morgage $3,000-$8,000 per month
nobody takes bus to work
who has time to help out politicians?
