Congratulations to Thomas S. Wootton High School, who won first place in League of Legends at our 2015 Live Grand Finals!

After a 3-1 victory over Temple City, these players took home a shiny trophy, $10,000 in college scholarships, Roccat peripherals, J!nx hoodies, and the honor of being the best high school League of Legends team in North America.

The staff at High School Starleague is deeply saddened to hear about the loss of beloved Wootton High School principal, Dr. Michael J. Doran. Serving 12 years as principal of Wootton and four decades in education, Dr. Doran was a strong supporter of his students. As the students from Wootton High School took first place in HSL's League of Legends 2015 Grand Finals, Dr. Doran was one of the team's biggest cheerleaders as he watched all their games on stream--understanding none of the game play.


One student writes:
[Dr. Doran] watched something he didn't even understand and had never seen before just to support Wootton's team. And he never acted as if it was not a real achievement. He never scoffed at how it was "just a game" as many people view eSports. I distinctly remember him smiling and saying, "I wanted to cheer them on. Those are my boys! My awesome Asian boys!"

Our hearts and thoughts are with Dr. Doran's friends, family, faculty and students.
