Silent May
by Bing Hua
Tr. by Liu Mei
The spring breeze loosens the land so deep
While memories stand like trees in sleep
Reckless clouds are the moon’s old grace
Silent rain wears the sunlight’s face
A bird slips past–so swift, so slight
Leaves gaze upward, chasing light
Blush of blossoms draws ever near
Love’s tender green fades year by year
Raindrops blur the window’s line
Sliding past the edge, just fine
The sky, a mirror–still, divine
Below, I walk through flowers in line
All May’s blooms have come and gone
The road breathes fragrance
–soft, withdrawn
