冰花Goddess of Antelope Canyon羚羊峡谷女神摄影和诗获5位美国诗人唱和
https://www.meipian.cn/4iboxgtb?first_share_to=other&share_depth=1&first_share_uid=6981593&v=6.2.3

Goddess of Antelope Canyon by Bing Hua

Antelope Canyon, near Page, AZ, sits on land owned by the Navajo Nation.
After the photograph by Bing Hua

Ekphrastic  Poetry

Goddess of Antelope Canyon
Bing Hua
Translation by Yingcai Xu

I came from the mundane world
There I dwelled on a mountain summit
And went through
Unbearable chilliness

I died
In a bloody windstorm
But was reborn
in this Antelope Canyon

To stay aloof from the squabbles of the world
And live tempered for eons in loneliness
Focusing on creations in the deep canyon

To use the canyon as a color palette
To use the rainwater as colors
To use the sky as a canvas
And to use the robust wind and rain as a burin

I collaborate with the sunlight
To transform every facet of the 360 degrees into a view
And produce new art every minute
The riot colors of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple
“Is not meant to dazzle, yet visitors are dazzled by themselves”

Oh, as a human
One does not necessarily have to aim high
Low places also boast the most beautiful scenes
Oh, heaven
Is not necessarily in the sky
Antelope Canyon
Is the most beautiful heaven

What comes colliding in the Antelope Canyon is
The symphony of light, shadow, and color
The perfect singing of pebbles, sands, and winds
The resonance of heaven, earth, and man
The karma achieved through long cultivation
A gift from the magic nature
And the miraculous word that will carry on and on

Editor’s Note: The line in quotes above is the second half of a Chinese colloquial saying. The first half is "Wine is not to intoxicate, yet the drinkers are intoxicated by themselves.” This thought adds a challenging dimension to the poem.

 Antelope Canyon

by Paulette Demers Turco

Inspired by Antelope Canyon, near Page, AZ
the largest slot canyon in the U.S.

The sand is soft and cool beneath her feet.
The polished fine-lined orange, ochre, coral,
gold, vermillion sandstone towers high
above her shadowed head, as she explores
the fluid curves, the sheen. She sees no cracks
within her view, and glancing up, decides
she’s where the April midday sun, perhaps,
will reach a height above these wavelike sculptures,
whose tops alone now glow. She halts her walk
as beams of light descend, adorn this space.

Calm is not what formed this pristine place,
once a mere fissure in a giant bedrock.
Extremes of weather served as nature’s sculptors.
Torrents of rain have pummeled through the gaps
that widened, multiplied–now water slides
into the Colorado, while attacks
of windblown sand on rock expanded scores
of crevasses, that rounded, deepened–why
the whirl of wind has whispered as a quarrel,
across millennia, yet incomplete.

Our Lady of Antelope Canyon

by MFrostDelaney
After the photograph by Bing Hua

The wind stands still so light can beam and lead
me to your mouth that whispers prayers not heard
until the Holy People open ears …

Oh great, Oh spirits … humble servant, small
am I … and so I ask that you allow
me come into this place … this holiness …

In my own world, the bliss above, I am
an icon, cushion clouds adorn my seat
and seraphim laud halleluiah psalms …

To you I bring my blue … the water … sky
diffused into my mantle after you
bequeathed them to the universe, the hush …

endowed into my heart from you … I come
before your lavender, your coral, cliffs
that meld to rock so strong … so delicate

a realm … I feel your greeting unto me …
your light beams send a spot for me … your zeal
to render me … Approach … I humbly kneel.

Sculptor
by Gay Williford
After the photograph of Antelope Canyon by Bing Hua

I am a western river of the past
that carved canyons as I flowed,
my waves creating swirls,
curves, spikes and cracks in rock layers.
Today, sunlight pierces these fissures
revealing beautiful earth colors
that emerge from dark shadows.
As I swept across limestone,
sandstone and shale,
my currents etched deep,
complex ravines, leaving amazing landscapes
that now invite visitors’ awe and respect.

Blue Madonna
by Candace Turner
After the photograph of Antelope Canyon by Bing Hua

Protectress of balance & beauty
She glides on brown slippered feet
Silently sliding through cracks & crevices
born of wind & water

Her spirit visible only to those
who believe in the mystical power
of this sacred place … Nature’s rock rainbow

Tsé bighínílíní

by Sharmagne Leland-St. John
After the photograph of Antelope Canyon by Bing Hua

Flash floods and monsoons
sculpt to perfection...
etching limestone into art

Rain water swirls down
slot canyons to buffer
and smooth hard, rough edges

Sunbeams enhance
rainbow murals
the desert's palette
of vermillion, amber,

apricot, sapphire and violet
brushed by Nature
over a canvas of silica walls

Shadows dance across
this symphony of colour
calling out to spirits
of those long gone.
