无论如何，《蜗居》都不该是一部宣扬爱情的电视剧。所以，所有认为该剧残酷描写现代人感情，美化贪官的观点都是站不住脚的。甚至于，认为这部电视剧台词很黄很暴力，少儿不宜等等的观点也是经不起推敲的。因为这部电视剧的片名已经决定了，有关房事，这本来就不是一个未成年人思考的问题，蜗居里的故事很多时候都在床上，床上痴男怨女说的话，有多肉麻，相信成年的你都不会陌生。所以问题不在于导演怎么拍演员怎么演，问题在于电视台在什么时段播放。

然而，蜗居里面有爱情，只不过《蜗居》里的爱情最后被现实，被房市击得七零八落。中国人有着朴素的人生价值观，结婚生子购置房产，这是一个人一生中最大的三件事，缺了一件，你的人生都不会完整。两千年前孟老夫子都说：“无恒产者无恒心。”《蜗居》里，无恒产者连对爱人的恒心都几乎没有，爱情，在一份恒产面前有多脆弱，看看《蜗居》，你会惊惧。

故事发生在上海，尽管剧中虚拟为“江洲市”，但谁都看得出来这是在繁华的国际大都市上海背后的蜗居里发生的故事。郭海萍和苏淳曾是复旦高材生，为了成为大城市的一份子，两人毕业后放弃回故乡小城市做公务员的机会，留在了上海。在出租屋里，两人结婚生女。然而，久居逼仄压抑的出租屋，海萍始终不会把自己当作一个真正的上海人。在上海购买一套房子，成了海萍最大的梦想。
实施买房计划后，海萍两口子省吃俭用，每天的生活除了挂面就是方便面。而方便面竟然成了丈夫苏淳的美食，因为毕竟方便面里还有几粒肉末。只有在周末，海萍的妹妹海藻到来时，海萍才会做一顿有鱼或者有肉的晚餐。

海萍一心攒钱付首期，她加班，做兼职，连上班坐公交车都想办法省钱，甚至于为了交首付苏淳都瞒着海萍在外面借高利贷。可是，两口子无论怎样省吃俭用想办法创收都赶不上上海飞涨的房价。在家乡的女儿都快不认海萍了，她决定尽快买房。姐妹情深，为了帮助姐姐买房，海藻一次次求助于市委秘书宋思明。终于，这个大学刚毕业的女孩在宋思明的财气与风度面前，解开了自己的衣襟。海藻在情人宋思明和男朋友小贝两个男人之间周旋，一个是深爱自己并且给予自己帮助颇多的成熟男人宋思明，一个是将自己当作宝贝的打工族小贝，海藻慢慢地对宋产生了依赖之情，而对小贝，海藻除了愧疚，依然深爱。

苏淳因为盗卖公司文件赚取外快而被刑事拘留，宋思明知道后替他轻松化解。就这样，每一次海萍或者海藻有了难题，总有一双手在她们的背后替她解决，有时候海萍甚至都搞不清楚是谁在帮助自己。这双手当然是宋思明，宋知道海萍对海藻有多重要，而海藻是他深爱的女人，他为了取悦自己喜欢的女人，作为堂堂市委秘书的他，居然愿意动用关系为海萍解决一些诸如开病假条之类的小事情。
小贝知道海藻的背叛后终于无法摆脱心里的阴影离开海藻。海藻也心安理得地做起了宋思明的二奶并为他怀上了一个男婴。

宋因为贪污受贿问题严重而被调查，他自知时日无多，在家庭纠结与罪行败露之后，宋又得知自己妻子殴打海藻致使海藻流产，绝望的宋思明在狂奔的轿车里松开了掌握方向盘的双手。。。。。。
毋庸置疑，《蜗居》是近年来最为真实反应中国畸形房市对普通百姓生活深刻影响的一部作品。而房市背后是普通人的感情纠葛，房市成为房事。

郭海萍与苏淳是有着真情的，可是为了攒钱买房，郭海萍变得吝啬刻薄。每每不顺，总是斥责丈夫不求上进，不出去挣钱。为了在超市储物柜中损失的一块钱，郭海萍可以将丈夫轰出家门。为了让苏淳父母拿钱替他们付首期，竟逼得苏淳在外面借高利贷。在海萍的压力下，苏淳不惜出卖公司机密文件换取外快。海萍对海藻说： “别让我发达了，还真别让我发达了，要让我发达了，我肯定立马离开他，一分钟也不耽误。”郭海萍在买房压力下几近走火入魔，感情已经敌不住金钱的诱惑。此时你很难将她与复旦大学高材生联系起来。那种尖酸刻薄吝啬小气比起任何一个上海小市民来，有过之而无不及。

海萍说：“爱情是什么？你知道爱情是什么？爱情就是男人骗女人的鬼把戏，什么我把我的心交给你，你就永远拥有我。他那是什么都没有，所以净说些甜言蜜语，有什么用呢？说这些有什么用？你要真有本事，一个男的爱一个女的，什么都先别说，先送上一沓钞票，让这女的有安全感，然后送上一套房子，至少在你上了这个女的以后，虽然她的心失落了，可是身体有着落。这才叫男人，这才是男人办的事。要不然你结婚干嘛？还吃不饱，那娶媳妇干吗呀？那媳妇跟你一块儿受累？受苦受累就叫爱情了？那这种爱情我宁愿不要”。这些真实而直白的语言将爱情幻想击得粉碎。而正是这个时候海萍所发的牢骚对海藻产生了深刻的影响，看着曾经夫妻情深的姐姐在房子的压力下面目憔悴感情危机，海藻在想将来她和小贝结婚后会不会为了这些生活压力而丢失掉爱情。

海藻与小贝是真心相爱的，小贝把海藻看得比生命还重要。可是因为他也在攒钱买房，所以拒绝了海藻要他借钱给海萍的要求。小贝一口就拒绝了借钱给海萍，而宋思明那边却毫不犹豫地答应帮助海萍。海藻的感情在两个男人之间，有了倾斜的理由。为了帮助姐姐海萍买房化解危机，她一次次求助宋思明。虽然宋思明是那么乐意帮助她，然而人情债总归要还的。海藻什么也没有，所以只能是“人情债，肉偿”。海藻对宋思明的感情，最早的时候有着报恩的成分，可是后来在宋思明的权利金钱以及一个成熟男人的风度面前，海藻对他产生了深深的依赖，她对豪宅名车的生活已经上瘾。她甚至于不介意自己“二奶”的身份，她对宋思明说，“从此之后，我就正式步入职业二奶的行列”。此话那么轻松，而她与小贝之间的感情，也终于产生巨大的鸿沟。尽管她还是那么爱着小贝，它曾一度愿意狠心断绝与宋的来往，她可以克制主动去找宋思明，但是一旦宋思明找到她，两人见面，海藻又如何能逃得开宋思明的温存与权力？

这一切故事，都围绕着海萍买房发生，海藻一步步走向“职业二奶”的生活，也由海萍为买房而给自己、给家庭以及给海藻的压力而决定了。

难怪有八零后说，《蜗居》让八零后绝望。曾有八零后对我戏说：“讨厌你们这些七零后，仗着改革开放攫取的一点资本，霸占着我们的职位，抢走了我们的女人”。而看看《蜗居》，绝望的岂止是八零后？七零后在大都市买房的辛苦，罄竹难书。而跟八零后抢女人的男人，又岂止是七零后？宋太太培养了二十年的西瓜轻易就被八零后的女人摘走，她该不该绝望？

跟几个看过《蜗居》的朋友交流，观点或有不同，相同的是都感觉到压抑。蜗居就是蜗居，蜗居里空间狭窄空气污浊人际关系复杂，自然是压抑。全剧姐妹两个女人戏份最多，而给人印象最深的却是两个男人的表情，一个是苏淳的笑，另一个是宋思明紧皱的眉头。宋思明身居高位，心思缜密。他不愁钱财不用为房事焦头烂额，可是他过得并不快乐，也许他真的只有跟青春绽放的海藻在床上厮混时才能有片刻的欢愉。而苏淳淡泊，无求，看似不求上进。可是正是这种不求上进让他快乐，就算老婆百般责难他仍能够轻松调笑，化干戈为玉帛。这难道不是大智若愚？

仔细回想，全剧给人快乐感受的时候，居然都是苏淳出场的时候。

《蜗居》贵在真实，无论故事，还是台词，包括二奶贪官等社会现象的刻画。这些真实基于国民对房市的迷惑和对未来的迷茫。房市关系到每间房子的价格，房子关系到每对夫妻的房事，房事关系到每对夫妻的感情。谁，都不愿永远蜗居。
