SENDING OUT MY HEART

In the early spring,
I slipped my pounding heart,
Into an envelope.
Shyly I reached to the mailbox;
I had to let it go, teeth clenched;
Into the mailbox the heart slithered.
Covering my eyes with my hands I blushed;
Peeking through fingers, I saw no one in sight;
I rushed away posthaste.

To Post a Heart
The early spring
Put a wildly beating heart
Into an envelope
sheepish all the way to a mailbox
She gritted her teeth, loosened her hands
And a heart slipped in
Blushed, she covered her eyes with both hands
While nobody could see her through her fingers
She ran away, and disappeared like a wreath of vapour
