Strangeness, familiarity Remoteness, intimacy A distance hard to express clearly
Better wander in the strangeness Let me read you in my dream From spring to winter
Better fly in the remoteness Let me gaze at you across the shore From dusk to dawn
In fact, what I want Is the familiarity in my dream And the intimacy in my poem If even such breeze and cloud are forbidden Then I don't understand the distance between life anddeath
Admiring you while standing atop the cliff Is there a place for me to retreat The sea conquers the streams If it's not man’s desire, it must be God’s will
See the flowers of May Bathing in the aggrieved rain Will the blossoms in rain still beas beautiful as inthe beginning A couple of colorful butterfliesdancing in the storm The teardrops of May flowers are playing amelody

May Flowers By Rose Lu (Bing hua) Tr. East Sea Fairy
Strange, but familiar Distant, but intimate A distance I fail to make clear
Then please wander in unfamiliarity And let me read you in dreams From spring to winter
I decide to release you for flight in detachment So I can look at you across shore From dusk to dawn
Truly, what I want is no more than Familiarity in dreams And intimateness in poems If there are not allowed I can’t see the distance between life and death
To where can I retreat Despite of standing on the cliff to appreciate you Streams sea dominates Is it mortal will or providence?
Seeing may flowers Bathe in an aggrieved rain I wonder if the blossoms in the rain are still as fine as they used to be A pair of coloured butterflies dances in the storm While the tears of May flowers play the music.
